FMyBoss
Online community + Employer review site
The Objectives
The founders of tech startup FMyBoss, an online community and employer review website, wanted to entice visitors to fill out their pre-launch sign-up form with copy that was bold, empowering, and a little cheeky.
The Copy
Embodies that same fiery, emboldened passion characteristic of a fed-up employee while walking users through each step of the sign-up process with humor and reassurance.
The Ad
I conceptualized, wrote, and designed the ad pictured above to accompany the pre-launch sign-up copy provided to the client. The ad visualizes the user’s primary pain points (workplace mistreatment and frustration) as a comic strip inspired by the once-popular Dilbert, which the company used in its original imagining of FMyBoss graphics.
The ad also incorporates the cross-popping veins symbol from the manga iconography.
The symbols in the center function cleverly as the attention-grabbing headline of the ad, subtly delivering an in-your-face directive to disgruntled employees: if you're fed up with your boss, flip him off, but do it on our platform online without risking your job.
The Deliverable
Copy for a each step of the sign-up process.
